Brass is a combination of copper and zinc. Like silver, brass oxidizes over time, especially upon contact with air, sweat, and moisture.
The oxidation process is a natural, superficial phenomenon. With proper care, it is possible to preserve the item's appearance for longer and restore its shine when it begins to show signs of tarnishing.
We advise that:
- Avoid wearing the item in the pool, in the sea, or during sports activities, as chlorine, salt, and the skin's acidic pH can accelerate the item's oxidation process.
- the direct application of perfumes and creams/cosmetics.
- contact with cleaning products or products that may contain chemicals.
When the piece starts to darken, place it in a bowl of water with a little vinegar for about 4 minutes , then dry it with a soft cloth. This trick helps remove the thin surface layer of the brass that has become dull.
